Creating Spiritual Practices

So, did you come up with a list of energy drains or tolerations to work on? Sure hope so because identifying and eliminating those things that drain your energy is key to staying focused and motivated.

Getting what you want doesn’t have to be complicated.  The key is remaining focused and energized each week so you can take consistent action and not give up.

One of the key reasons people don’t achieve their goals has to do with lack of energy.  They are either tired from a long work day or mentally drained from worrying about the myriad of things we all tend to fret about.  Did you know that worrying is more physically draining than many forms of physical exercise?

Sometimes, people get discouraged when they hit a roadblock with their goals…and then they stop.  They lose momentum and are back to square one.

Consistent spiritual practices create a more stress-free and peaceful life.”

~ Coach Carolyn

My intention this year is to help you gain momentum and SUSTAIN it during this process.  That’s why I’m now asking you to commit to doing 3-5 healthy, energizing practices each week.

Lack of energy on any level (emotional, spiritual, financial, physical, mental etc) is the number one reason most people don’t have the life they truly want.  Many of us are running on adrenaline and flying by the seat of our pants, so to speak. In time, this can be a very stressful way to live.

So, creating some order to your life is fundamental to creating the foundation you’ll need to reach your goals this year.

Create a List of Spiritual Practices and DO Them!

TODAY, I’d like you to identify 3-5 spiritual practices. Simply write out your list in your companion journal.  Many people wonder if they have to do their practices every single day.  Ideally, YES – that’s why it’s called ‘practice’.  However, if there’s one you think you can do at least 5 days a week…write it down.  This is about progress, not perfection.

Key Point:  A spiritual practice needs to be simple, fun and supportive.

(You may also want a few weekly practices to do once a week.  For now, create your list of daily ones.)

Of course, you may update your list or change them down the road.

One of the most basic of spiritual practices is gratitude. To recognize those people and things in your life that you are grateful for is the ultimate sign of grace. You will be reminded of your gratitude list every week in your Intention Form.

That’s it for now!  ‘See’ you on Sunday for your first Intention Form.

Here’s a sample list of spiritual practices to inspire you in creating your own list:

  • Begin the day with breakfast.

  • Spiritual reading in the morning.

  • Morning meditation.

  • Morning walk before work.

  • Spending 15 minutes to tidy up at home before work.

  • Making a protein smoothie in the morning.

  • Listen to uplifting music on your commute.

  • Listen to inspiring audio books on your commute to work.

  • Turn off the radio and commute to work in total silence.

  • Set an “intention” for the day.

  • Get to work 30 minutes early to plan day without distractions.

  • Remove yourself from the office and recharge at lunch each day.

  • Transition from work time to private time by taking a quick nap when you get home.
